Hidden Hand Applique

$30 members
Plus a $10 kit fee paid directly to David

Live, in-person at the Millwood Firehouse on 100 Millwood Road in Millwood, NY 10546

Learn David’s technique for applique, resulting in stitches that are hidden from view. In this hands-on workshop and working on a simple project, you will discover the intricate hand-stitching method and attention to detail that has set David’s work apart and learn how to achieve the same level of precision and beauty in your own creations.  Topics of the day include working with freezer paper templates, perfecting pre-turned edges, solving the dreaded “shadowing” effect of light fabrics (a game-changer with Jo Thomas), choosing the proper needle and thread for your project, plus much more.

Kit includes all pre-washed fabrics, including background custom print fabric, full-color instructions, freezer paper templates, tracing paper for placement guide, needle and thread.

Student Supplies Needed:

  • Paper scissors and fabric scissors
  • small travel iron and ironing surface
  • Applique pins
  • Pencil or mechanical pencil
  • Finger stiletto – (trolley needle, optional, but very useful)
  • extension cord
