Our next committee meeting will be at 4:30 on February 14 at Kennedy Catholic. We will keep it short and sweet ?
Please continue to work on your show entries!!
Stop by our sign up table to see what is up-coming in March and April, 2017. You can also go to Program, Lectures and Workshops on the Home page of our website for more details.
The Art Quilters will be meeting at 5:45pm at the back of the cafeteria before the January Guild Meeting. January is using words and/or mixed media.
It is not too late to do your guild challenge piece, “Quilts Inspired by Books”. Do not think that you have to design a complicated art piece for this challenge. Think of traditional patterns that might lend themselves to a book, i.e.using log cabin blocks for “Little House on the Prairie”. All of the guidelines are listed under the “Program” section of the website. The quilts are due at the January meeting, so sew quickly. Voting will be at the Feb. meeting. Hope to see LOTS of amazing entries!
Super Saturday will be held Saturday February 18, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown, NY.
What is Super Saturday? A day spent with friends, making friends and learning from our fellow guild members. Yes, this day is about us and sharing our talents with one another.
Arrival time for set-up begins at 8:30 am with the creative process starting at 9:00 am. At noon we will gather in the fellowship hall for a catered lunch and conversation with friends. After lunch we will head for the finish line and participants will gather at 3:00pm for show and share. Departure is scheduled for 3:30 pm but not before a quick pack-up and clean-up of those sticky strings and pointed pins. Please plan to join us. Go to Program, Special Events from the Home page of the website for a list of the classes being offered.
Contact Patti Calautti or Caryl Castellion for questions or enrollment.
Guild members have been hard at work making Comfort Quilts. 142 Quilts were distributed between 7/1/16 and 12/8/16. Recipients of these quilts included individual gifts, Emanuel House, Holmes Presbyterian Camp, Temple Y’Israel, North Salem Ambulance Corp., Westchester Medical Behavioral Unit, Blythedale, Womens Resource Center, Ann’s Place, Kids in Crisis, Kennedy Catholic High School, Community Cares, Stamford Public Education, Brewster Library, and Somers Manor Nursing Home.
All members are welcomed to bring in a snack for our December meeting. We will also have three raffles; two regular prizes and one gift basket filled with goodies !!!
Please stop by the Welcome Table to pick up your Membership Book. Unfortunately, the cell phone numbers were not printed in the books. Instead the home phone numbers were printed twice. We are handing out inserts to the books with the correct phone numbers, so please pick one up when you sign in. We apologize for the omission!
We are so pleased to announce not one, but two fabulous Invitationals for our 2017 show: Rayna Gillman and Liza Prior Lucy. We look forward to surrounding this wonderful display with all of our Members’ beautiful quilts. Altogether we will have a great Show!
The Domestic Machine Quilting SIG will be meeting before the December guild meeting at 5:45pm in the back of the cafeteria. Please bring any machine quilting projects you are working on to share and/or discuss with the group. We did not have any volunteers for December for a specific topic so Helen will discuss some things she learned from the Cindy Needham Craftsy course.
The Art Quilters will be meeting at 5:45pm at the back of the cafeteria before the December Guild Meeting. We have outgrown our space in the teacher’s lounge and this location should give us more room. Don’t forget to bring in your “play exercises” for the month. December is washes, drawing or painting on fabric, and/or beads. Also, bring your Show and Tell.
The Landscape SIG will meet Saturday, December 3rd from 1pm to 3pm at the Astoria Bank in Somers.
